Across the Country. Part 1.

Our journey to Los Angeles, CA began on Monday. We drove from Nashville, across Arkansas and finally to Oklahoma City, OK. It was about an 11 hour drive.

Then we had a wonderful Italian meal at Zio's. The meal had sort of a Southwestern twist to the food. It was strangely delicious.

Tuesday morning, Leah got up for a quick hotel treadmill run and then we headed out again. We drove across Texas and stopped in Amarillo at Tango's Taco Shop. Seriously, some of the best tacos we've had.

We kept venturing west and ran into some nasty storms. It's pretty amazing to see the land terrain change while driving west. Along I-40 through Texas, the majority of what we saw was old, abandoned farm equipment. The land was desolate and kind of eerie. The closer we got to NM, the land turned more into dessert.

We finally stopped in Albuquerque, NM after an 8 hour drive.  We arrived by 4:00 so we decided to go to Old Town. It was a really great place with shops, restaurants, and lots of souvenirs. We bought our friends Sam a coffee mug and Andrea a ring.

Then it was dinner time. We were told that Kelly's Kitchen was a fantastic place to eat so we decide to check it out. We got there and it was an old car service building transformed into a restaurant. It was also a brewery. It was a decent place to eat but not the best.

Overall, our first two days were fun and exciting but we were definitely ready to spend a couple days with Sam and Andrea in Scottsdale, AZ.

More to come later!
